canon 5d mkII

right. this is going to come off as either jealousy, arrogant, pathetic or probably all three. the canon 5d mkII is a camera that almost knows no bounds. with a 22mp sensor and the ability to shoot in 1080 hd film, it's almost an important invention as the camera obscura. never in modern photography have we seen such an invention that will completely change the way we photograph from now on. i want this camera. i really want this camera, and it pisses me off when people who don't know how to take a picture afford them, use them, and produce boring images. now i'm not saying i am brilliant, but take for example the picture of the trees to the left. this was taken on the 5d mkII and i found this in the interesting section of flickr (interesting is a section on the site displaying the most popular photographs of the moment)

now, to de-construct that image would be easy enough. it plays around with basic compositional rules, it's composed well and has pretty decent tones. but it's boring! i don't want to go onto the interesting section of flickr and find people with the 5d mkII camera are taking these kinds of pictures? it's a joke, an insult to the camera itself. but then look at the top image, a picture taken on the now outdated canon eos 350d. i want to see more of that! the mkII has such incredible technical features that it's an absolute waste to be shooting lone trees in the desert. show me things the 350d can't, show me things i've never seen before. it's not as if it's at a consumer price yet (it's £2,500), so who on earth is buying this camera and using it for the bad of humanity? increase the human condition, take beautiful images, wow us with the marvel of its power!

now i know the top image has been edited quite heavily but this is more of a cry out for those with the 5d mkII to push the boat a little. at the moment you're boring, and there are plenty of people with lower grade cameras out there who are taking much better pictures.

  1. Understand your plight totally. Is rather like celebrities with glossy grand pianos that never get played on Cribs. They use it as furniture.

  2. woo one follower. yeah perfect example was simon cowell's cribs. he'd lived at the house for a year or something, but said he hadn't actually used some of the rooms!

irony is my friends have this new camera and have said i can use it whenever. i'm sure i'd probably take a few bad ones
